To discover your true depths you have to be willing to discover the unknown. A challenge will allow you to step out of what you know so you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. The purpose of a dream is to change where you are now!
How do you know if your dream is too small?
None of us know everything so – do not make the mistake of dreaming small:
· If you can get to where you want to be without any help from others, then you dream too small.
· If you can predict the end – you are not stretching yourself, then your dream is too small.
· If your dream does not scare you, you are not reaching your highest potential.
· If you have all the answers it is not challenging enough, then your dream is too small.
I have met people in the past who want a better or different life but are not willing to get out of bed earlier to do it. This summer has been full of sporting heroes who have made many sacrifices to life their dream.
Give up on perfection or having everything in place before you start the journey. It is an excuse for not facing your fears. Susan Jeffers author of ‘Feel the Fear and do it Anyway,’ said “pushing through the fear is less frightening than living with the underlying fear that comes from a feeling of helplessness”. Use your fear as fuel your dreams, tap into that nervous energy that gets you to step off the edge and start the journey.
Do not wait for the Big Idea – discover by doing and talking, this is a good way of testing and improving your idea, or perfecting your skill. Life is full of unexpected turns, experience it, trust that you will not die but you cannot enjoy the ride without getting on the train so step up, get on board and be open to what happens.
Stay focused on the GOAL ahead – keep moving forward whatever happens. In golf so often the next shot is bungled because your thoughts are still with the previous shot. If you are always looking back you are likely to bum your head, so focus on where you are going – the goal!
Control your Thoughts – I realized the power of changing my thoughts, which changed my actions and this, changed my destiny:
Your thoughts become word,
Your words become actions,
Your actions become your character,
Your character becomes your destiny. (anonymous)
It is so simple! It’s important to apply all this in your life and business to give your dreams a chance of life.
The more you put in the more you will get out. Remember life is not a bed of roses, it is full of twist and turns and there are some thorns along the way; learn to expect them, observe the lesson and then put the thorn away safely otherwise it will return to bit you in the bum when you least expect it!
