I too made the mistake of thinking my purpose in to existence. The longer I thought and went looking for answers to discover my purpose the more it alluded me. Even questioning what is my passion uncertain of whether my talents and interests culminate in my very own purpose. Discovering my purpose although compelling seemed so very big a commitment for the rest of my life.
You know I was looking in the wrong place, I was looking for answers and it took me a while to realise that there is no one answer, rather my purpose is my path. Trust me, I had several false starts, thinking I found my purpose and then realising it did not hold my attention.
The world is changing fast and whatever point you fix will change. I realised your purpose must be a compelling aim and the journey toward your aim is not fixed. Very few achievements have a straight-line path. Recognising that there will be challenges, twists, s and new lessons that will inform the path you take.
Why is finding you purpose is a voyage of self-discovery.
Finding you purpose is a voyage of self-discovery. It is feeling your way to discover experiences that fit your personal path. You have all the answers, the answers do not come in one neat package, the answers are there to be discovered. You do what feels right to you and then learn what it is that feels right to you.
- So much of our inner wisdom or intuition is based in self-awareness. Self-awareness is thinking with your heart and not your head. Knowing that you have all you need, self-awareness is knowing all you have.
- Take the pressure off, discovering your path is not thinking of the one massive thing, it is feeling that you are on the right path that allows you to be the best you are here to be.
- Rather than finding your passion it is doing what brings you joy, doing what you love to do so life becomes easy because your hard-work is joyful.
No job description requires one skill, it is a combination of skills, your talent is a unique combination of skills experience and perspective. Your job is to match this unique combination of talents with the path that is designed by you.
Finding your purpose is finding your personal path, to do what only you can do, which is to make your purposeful meaningful contribution. You must go inward, it is discovering what is important to you. The question is not to ask of the world but to ask yourself and feel the answer within.
Purpose is about self-discovery. It does not limit your aspirations to a point you can see in the future. It is not a destination it is a journey of self-discovery with a commitment you will continue to discover what is right for your unique talents. This is your purposeful path, it is trusting yourself.
Why discover your purpose?
We all have a need to realise our potential. Having a clear purpose in everything you, gives you confident and commitment, knowing why you are here and what you are here to do. You have clarity and focus and the ability to communicate your purposeful meaningful contribution. Many people do things but do not know why they are doing it and the things they do are not aligned to who they are. Purpose gives you a focused reason that is so compelling you can galvanise other people to your purposeful meaningful mission.
What keeps you on your purposeful path?
- Your purpose is aligned to what is important to you and why it is important.
- Your purpose is your own personal path aligned to your unique talents.
- Your purpose is why you are here and what you are here to do.
If you feel you are not living your life but someone else’s, or that you are not reaching your full potential or that you are meant for more than where you are now, then you are not living with purpose on purpose. Go for your purpose, live the life that you are meant and make your purposeful meaningful contribution.
I will be launch the online course Living with Purpose on Purpose in April.
